NGO Policy Advocacy Training
In September, 1997, the Global Partnership for NGO Studies, Education and Training announced the start-up of a collaborative endeavor entitled, "Building Global Capacity for NGO Policy Advocacy Training." The ultimate goal is to assist nongovernmental, nonprofit or civil society organizations (CSO's) in developing their capacity to influence local, national and international public policies and institutions which impact their work in the areas of sustainable development, environmental protection, human rights, community action, the empowerment of women and other minorities, and similar endeavors. The immediate goal was to provide a structure for increasing communication among CSO's engaged in these activities. The partnership aims to facilitate training materials exchange, electronic consultation and free-access information.
